Selection Threshold
You must drag past a minimum distance to select an action. This prevents accidental selections from small finger movements.
Highlight
As your finger passes the threshold toward an action, that action highlights:
- Icon becomes more prominent
- Background color intensifies
- Subtle haptic confirms selection
Cancel
To cancel without selecting any action:
- Move your finger back toward the center
- Or lift your finger before reaching any threshold
Haptic Feedback
- Hold recognized (200ms): Light impact
- Action selected: Selection feedback
- Save ready (800ms): Heavier impact indicating save-ready state
- Action executed: Success or confirmation feedback
Context-Aware Actions
Actions adapt based on context:
In Main River
- Up: Save
- Right: Share
- Down: Less
- Left: Focus
In Read Later
- Up: Subscribe (to source)
- Right: Share
- Down: Release
- Left: Focus
Tips
- Build muscle memory: The directions are consistent, so you'll quickly learn the gestures
- Trust the haptics: Feedback tells you when you've selected an action
- Don't rush: The gesture is designed to feel natural at a comfortable pace
