Saved Articles

Save articles to your personal reading shelf for when you have time to focus.

Saving Articles

There are several ways to save an article:

Swipe to Save

  1. Swipe right on any article in your river (if configured as your short or long right swipe action)
  2. Feel the haptic confirmation when the threshold is reached
  3. Release to save

From the Reader

While reading an article, tap the star icon in the header to add it to Saved.

Manual Addition

  1. Go to the Saved Current
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Paste or enter a URL
  4. Current will fetch and save the article

Accessing Saved

Your saved articles appear in the Saved Current, accessible from the Currents bar at the top of your river.

Visual Distinction

Saved articles use the warm amber accent color throughout Current:

  • Save button/icon highlighted in amber
  • Subtle amber tint on saved article cards

This "warmth" indicates items that are personally yours, saved for intentional reading.

Reading Saved

Tap any article in Saved to open and read it.

Scroll Position

Just like in the main river, your scroll position is saved. Return later and pick up exactly where you left off.

Releasing

When you're done with a saved article, swipe left to release it from Saved.

Offline Reading

Saved articles are cached for offline reading:

  • Automatic caching: Up to 50 articles cached automatically
  • 30-day retention: Cached content stays for a month
  • Full content: Complete article with images
  • No network needed: Read anywhere, anytime

See Offline Reading for more details.

Actions in Saved

Swipe on articles in Saved for quick actions:

  • Swipe left: Release the article from Saved
  • Swipe right: Share the article

Swipe actions in Saved are configurable in Settings, just like river swipe actions.

Sync Behavior

If you use a sync service, Saved syncs with your service's starred/saved articles:

  • Articles saved in Current appear starred in your service
  • Articles starred in your service appear in Saved
  • Removing syncs in both directions

Tips

  • Be selective: Save only what you'll actually read
  • Review regularly: Don't let Saved become another backlog
  • Use for focus time: Save during quick checks, read during dedicated time
  • Release freely: It's okay to remove articles you no longer want to read
